Kionix,
Inc.
Kionix, Inc., founded in 1993, is a privately-held company
located in Ithaca, New York. The Company pioneered high-aspect
ratio silicon micromachining based on research originally
conducted at Cornell University, and today enjoys a global
reputation for MEMS product design, process engineering,
and quality manufacturing. Product innovations developed
by Kionix include inertial sensors, microfluidic systems,
microrelays, and micromirror arrays. The Company offers
the industry's broadest family of MEMS inertial sensors
including single-, dual-, and tri-axis accelerometers, gyroscopes,
and unique combination sensors. Kionix's MEMS products are
used in diverse industries such as automotive, consumer
electronics, and biotechnology. Kionix is ISO9001:2000 registered.

Kionix sensors are sculpted from single crystal silicon using a proprietary, Deep Reactive Ion Etch (DRIE) process called plasma micromachining. The accelerometer's thin beams are about 1/1000th the thickness of a human hair. Miniature accelerometers, such as Kionix' KXP74, enable applications such as drop detection, gesture recognition, image stabilization and inertial navigation/deductive reckoning.
